Is daycare right for my dog?

Do you separate dogs by size or temperament?
Absolutely. Safety comes first. We group dogs based on size, play style, and personality to create positve, well-matched social experiences.
What does my dog do all day?
A little bit of everything! Your pup will enjoy supervised play, outdoor time, enrichment activities, and rest breaks to recharge. It’s a balanced day designed to keep them happy— not overwhelmed.
Will my dog get rest time?
Yes! Even the most energetic dogs need downtime. We build in structured rest periods to help prevent overstimulation and keep everyone feeling their best.
What if my dog is nervous or new to daycare?
That’s completely normal. We take introductions slowly and tailor the experience to your dog’s comfort level, helping them build confidence at their own pace.

What should I bring for my dog?

Does my dog need to be desexed?
We require dogs to be desexed if they are more than 6 months old. This helps maintain a calm, safe, and balanced group dynamic. If you’re unsure, just reach out—we’re happy to chat.
What are the benefits of daycare?

What are your behaviour requirements?
All dogs must be friendly, social, and comfortable in a group environment. For everyone’s safety, we cannot accept dogs with aggressive behaviours. Our trial process helps us make sure daycare is the right fit for your pup.

How often should my dog be groomed?
It depends on your dog’s breed, coat, and lifestyle. As a general guide, most pups benefit from grooming every 4–8 weeks to keep their coat healthy and looking fresh.
What should I book: Bath, Bath & Blow-Dry, or Full Groom?
If you’re unsure, don’t stress—we’ve got you. A simple bath is great for short-coated dogs, while fluffier pups usually benefit from a blow-dry. Full grooms are perfect when your dog needs a tidy-up or complete restyle. We’re always happy to recommend the best option.
What if my dog is nervous or it’s their first groom?
Totally normal! We specialise in gentle, positive experiences—especially for first-timers. We go at your dog’s pace, with lots of patience (and a few sneaky treats), to help them feel safe and comfortable.
Do I have to get a blow-dry?
Not at all! Some pups just aren’t fans, and that’s okay. We’ll never force it—or charge you for something your dog doesn’t need or enjoy.
How long will my dog’s appointment take?
It varies depending on the service, coat type, and your dog’s temperament. Most appointments range from 1–3 hours. We focus on quality and comfort, not rushing the process.
Can you groom to my dog’s breed style?
Absolutely. Our experienced groomers are trained in breed-specific styling, but we can also customise the look to suit your preferences and your dog’s lifestyle.
What products do you use?

What if my dog is matted?
We’ll always assess your dog’s coat first and talk you through the best and most humane option. Severe matting can be uncomfortable for dogs, so sometimes a shorter cut is the kindest choice.

How do I book into the day Spa?
The easiest way is to jump on our website (thedawghouse.au), choose the services you’d like and a time that suits you. Most clients coincide their booking with a Daycare visit to make things easier. We take care of the rest!
